Dark Souls named 'Last-ditch Unfit ever'
The Personal computer was declared the Ultimate Hardware of All Prison term at the Metallic Stick Awards yesterday, an obvious and completely correct acknowledgement that PCs both predate and outpace any game console you care to name. As Gabe Newell put it in his accolade acceptance speech, "Gamers and developers wealthy person benefited enormously from the continual innovation in PC gaming computer hardware."
But if PC is the ultimate gaming computer hardware, then what, you power reasonably involve, is the ultimate game? That, according to the Golden Joysticks, is FromSoftware's 2011 ARPG Dreary Souls, which beat verboten other contenders in the fan-voted family including Destine, Uncomplete-Life 2, Minecraft, Halo: Fight Evolved, Grand larceny Car 5, Portal site, and Space Invaders.
"Thank you a good deal for receiving so much a wonderful award," Dark Souls director Hidetaka Miyazaki said in a assertion rumored by Rube Japan (via Google Translate). "It's still unbelievable that the user chose from the nominated full treatmen, but I feel it's a great honor."
Miyazaki also paid tribute to his colleagues at FromSoftware, saying that newcomers to the studio apartment when it began working happening Dark Souls are now "the core of the latest effort, Elden Ring."
"I was profoundly moved by the award," he said. "We will continue to make stimulating and valuable games. I hope you look gardant to it. Thank you!"

It's stimulating to retrieve, in light of this award, that the original release of Uncheerful Souls on PC, the Prepare to Die edition, was really quite a a mess. FromSoftware described it ahead of set in motion as "strictly a port from the console version," with no optimizations for PC, and they weren't kidding: Among another issues, information technology was locked to 720p/30fps at launch, which plane in 2013 was emphatically non cool. Modding hero Peter "Durante" Thoman rapidly free a patch that did away with those graphical limitations, just it still suffered from wonky dependable and savagely bad mouse-and-keyboard controls. It wasn't until the 2018 release of Dark Souls Remastered that we got an out-of-the-boxwood experience that didn't look like it was deliberately calculated to have United States all buy PS3s.
Hopefully the rollout of FromSoftware's latest soulslike leave be a sight smoother: Elden Ring is currently primed to get in sometime in February 2022.
