  • Very stylish and portable
  • Packs all the features you could want

Cons

  • Shoulder button layout isn't ideal
  • The SN30 Pro is a amend controller in almost every way

Our Verdict

The 8bitdo N30 Pro 2 is a nice alternative for those WHO prefer a super-small form factor and air-conditioned lighting, but I'd urge the SN30 In favor of because of its big sticks and thicker frame.

8BitDo's N30 In favou was a amusing controller that married classic NES aesthetics with modern controls. Its continuation—the N30 Favoring 2—adds inexperienced features without changing much. For better or worsened, it features the same residuum of portability and comfort, while adding rumble, disceptation controls, and USB-C charging. Simply since the release of the Super Nintendo-themed SN30 Pro IT's been hard to recommend the N30 Pro. The updates do little to interchange that.

What's been updated?

The list of things that has been updated on the N30 Pro 2 seems large, but IT's mostly delivery the features adequate to parity with its bigger sibling, the SN30 Pro. Let's fracture them down:

  • Motion controls
  • Vibration
  • USB-C charging
  • Turbo functionality
  • Updated buttons
  • Color schemes

Of these new features, it's the rumble that adds the all but to the N30 Affirmative 2. Without ripping the controller open I'd say that the motors feel clean small, but they are all the same noticeable. They are a bit on the louder go with, but IT's not a take-breaker, and having IT is a very wanted upgrade.

USB-C charging is another nice upgrade to the N30 Pro 2. I might be in the minority because of how much tech comes crosswise my desk, just I've gotten to the point where it's harder for me to find a Micro-USB cable than a USB-C one—and it's only going to get worse from here.

When it comes to the updated button layout on the bottom of the controller, IT's very minor. Instead of a dedicated power button the controller is like a sho powered on by holding the start button—reasonable like the remainder of 8BitDo's offerings. So the only buttons that are featured are union, home, and the new turbo function.

The turbo function on the N30 In favor 2 works away belongings the button you are looking to replicate and hitting the Wizard button located connected the bottom. To be reliable I didn't use this much, as it's not a feature that relates to the kinds of games I play, but I'll mark it as a 'discriminating to have.'

The last thing to note is the updated color schemes. The original N30 Pro more closely resembled the NES, featuring a stripe down the middle and a standardised baptistry for Select and Start. For the N30 Pro 2 the changes make it a trifle more subtle, just each version is plain mimicking classic hardware.

Finale

If you weren't a fan of the world-class N30 Pro, thither's nothing here that will win you over—this is very an update to bring the queue up to snuff with the SN30 Pro. Merely since the SN30 Pro came out I have rarely decided to use the N30 Pro, and the updates to the N30 Pro 2 aren't departure to bring Pine Tree State back. This remains a nice option for those who prefer a super-small form factor and chilly lighting, but for virtually people I would recommend the SN30 Pro because of its larger sticks, better shoulder button layout, and thicker put.
